India And Canada-Relations
India and Canada relations are at the lowest ebb in the political history of India and Canada. Canada has accused India of being behind the murder of khalistani leader Najjar. However, no evidence has been submitted by Canada except telling it is based on intelligence reports. India has denied the allegations and said it is baseless in lack of any evidence. In the process, six Indian diplomats have returned to India. It has brought the political relations between India and Canada to the lowest level.
Canadian firms have large investments in India. Besides that Canada has a large number of Indian students. This will ultimately damage the Canadian Economy. There are lakhs of Indian settlers in Canada, so for them, it is a matter of great concern.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudo has become hostile towards India because he is losing his popularity and he has to face an election next year. His government depends upon the support of the Democratic Party whose President Jagmit Singh is near to khalistani activists. That is a compulsion for Justin Trudo to show a hostile attitude towards India.
There is another adverse factor involved is America which supports Canada using the name of 'Five-Eye Intelligence Report. It may political move of America to bring pressure on India so that its policy remains favorable to the Western block.
India has demanded that America and Canada hand over the khalistani activists who are wanted in India and doing anti-Indian activities in America and Canada.
However, it appears that it is a part of world politics to Check and Balance.
